I always felt deep down that I was a healer. As the son of a physician, I spent part of my childhood going on hospital rounds with my dad, eventually working in his office. While in college as a pre-med major, I wanted to see if being a doctor was what I really wanted to do so I got a job in a small hospital as a surgical orderly. I was able to observe many types of surgeries and learn from the surgeons. After a year and a half in that position, I decided that the lifestyle of a doctor wasn’t for me.
I volunteered in other departments in the hospital until I found what I thought was my true calling, physical therapy. I trained as a technician and eventually became a PT Assistant, passing the California State license exam in 1980. I worked in that capacity in California until 1991 when I moved to Tucson, Arizona and continued that work here.
I attended many continuing education classes, becoming certified in a wide variety of therapeutic techniques. I even began teaching some of these techniques to others in the field. Although I enjoyed my work, I gradually became disillusioned with the conditions that were developing in the healthcare industry and began seeking out related fields where I could continue to utilize the skills I had learned and develop new ones as well.
Finding massage therapy was serendipitous. I enrolled in the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts and graduated with honors. Immediately upon graduation, I began my new journey at the Center for Advanced Energy Therapeutics as an independent practitioner.
I have since become a Certified Kinesio® Taping Practitioner and Instructor allowing me to enhance my skills by offering a wider range of modalities to my clients.
I am now able to provide for the needs of my clients without being encumbered by insurance companies or medical establishment. I love that I get to work one- on-one with my clients to provide the ultimate in care that is tailored just for their needs. I am always excited to begin a new journey with each new client and see just how far we can go together.
With over 40 years of experience, I integrate many techniques into my work. Rest assured knowing that I have more than 27 years of experience as a physical therapy assistant.
According to the American Massage Therapy Association, 85% of massage therapists in the United States are women. I am proud to be in the 15% minority that has worked hard to find their way to successfully build a massage therapy practice that contributes to health and wellness of men, women, and children.
The majority of my clients are interested in my skill sets and how I am able help them. I also have clients who are interested in the man behind the “Hands that Heal.” I am told that they feel a sense of safety and comfort by seeing behind the professional man, skill sets, certifications and knowledge.
